Electrolytic gas moisture measurement was first successfully tested by Keide in 1959 and applied to trace moisture measurement. This method provides an industrial solution for continuous measurement of trace water in non alkaline gases, allowing for continuous, online, and real-time monitoring of gas trace water in various industrial processes

working principle

The electrode is coated with parallel platinum wires or wrapped with parallel platinum wires, and a hydrated phosphorus pentoxide film is coated between the platinum wires. When the gas passes through the electrolytic cell, all the water is absorbed and phosphoric acid is generated. At the same time, the direct current voltage between the two platinum wires causes the phosphoric acid to undergo electrolytic reaction and decompose into oxygen, hydrogen, and phosphorus pentoxide. When the absorption and electrolysis reach equilibrium, all the water entering the electrolytic cell is absorbed by the phosphorus pentoxide film layer and completely electrolyzed. According to Faraday's law of electrolysis and gas law, the absolute value of water in the gas sample can be directly measured based on the electrolysis current
